Cullairbaun Community House Project

Cullairbaun Community House, owned by Galway County Council and managed by Athenry ADC, was officially opened by Eamonn ÓCuiv, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on Thursday the 18^th. September 2008 at 6 PM

Cullairbaun Community House is situated in Cullairbaun Housing Estate on the Tuam Road in Athenry.

A sample of the various projects run in Cullairbaun House includes -

§         “The Cullairbaun Educational Advantage Project” is a “hands-on approach” to children in an after school setting. It also entails working with parents in order to help them develop the skills needed to help their own children progress in the education system.

§         The Early Education Project - a Mother and Toddler Group provides a focus for parents and their young children.

§         The Family Support Programme

§         The Adolescence Support Project

§         Active Age Group focusing on the needs of the elderly in this community.

§         The Cullairbaun Women’s Group - a social outlet for women in this area – which will lead to increased opportunities for those involved

§         The Cullairbaun Residents Association

§         Facilitation for other projects such as Home Start, Galway Travellers Support Group and Small Group Training Sessions.

§         Summer Projects: Annual Summer Camp, Patchwork Course, Arts Programme,

Community House Manager Catherine O'Flaherty

§         Upcoming events: Youth Drama Group, Photography Workshops

These projects are sponsored by Galway County Council, Galway Rural Development, Health Service Executive West, Pobail, County Galway VEC, Allied Irish Banks, the Catherine Howard Foundation and other various funding bodies throughout Ireland.
